Our Class
We had a brilliant last week in 5th class!
We cashed in all our remaining dojo rewards and got to go on a trip to the playground, the local shop and have a picnic in the pitch!
On our last day we had a delicious breakfast in school.

Active Schools Week
We had a fantastic week of activities this week. Thank you to Mrs Casey for teaching us gymnastics and to Claudia for teaching us yoga!
Robin Hood
Today we went to see Robin Hood in our local hall!
We really enjoyed the show.
Thanks to the West Midlands Theatre Company for putting on a great show.
Debating
We love debating!
We have been working on debating in oral language and as part of our genre writing.
We debated for and against some topics in class!
5th and 6th Class
School Tour 2022
Killaloe Adventure Centre
The water activities were our favourite.
We rate this tour 10/10
We traded in our Dojo points for ice-cream!
We needed 700 points to win this prize.
It was hard work getting to 700, but it was worth it.
Sunflowers for Ukraine
We planted sunflowers as a symbol of solidarity and peace to the people of Ukraine.
We can't wait to see out plants grow! The average height of a sunflower is 6 foot / 180cm (Taller than Ms O' Sullivan)
We reused yoghurt cartons as pots.
We also painted sunflowers for art!
World Beed Day Art
World Bee Day was the 20th of May this year. We have been learning about bees and biodiversity as part of our green flag!
We also collected the Supervalu "Save the Bees" cards! They were full of interesting facts.
We had a brilliant day in Buttervent at a soccer blitz.
Both our boys and girls team made it to the final!
Well done to our girls who won the final!

We are learning the prayer to Mary "Hail Mary" in Irish.

Emma attended a Swimming Gala last Saturday and won three medals!
Well Done Emma
Emma competed in six races and won three medals securing herself a First, Second and Third place.

Our Spring Art
This week in science we made butter!
We put cream in a clean, empty jam jar and shook it for 1 minute each!
It tasted just like butter you buy in the shop.

We made Pita Bread Pizza's!
They were very easy to make and delicious.
Baking
We made buns and decorated them with icing. They were so tasty!
We didn't break our Lenten Promise enjoying this treat.
Gardening
We have been out enjoying the nice weather! We got to plant some beetroot and lettuce with our school caretaker Tim!
National Confidence Day
24th March 2022
We watched a brilliant webinar today from Starcamp entitled
"I BELIEVE IN ME"
We got to see many guest speakers including Rory's Stories, Joe The Magician, Keith Barry and Micheál Martin.
We danced, sang, learned some magic and had great fun!
We were shocked and delighted when Micheál Martin announced a National No Homework Day!
We're going swimming !
We are so excited to be going on a bus and going swimming again!
We can't wait to jump into the pool.
Debating
Lá Glas
We held our annual Lá Glas in school Wednesday March 16th.
The children dressed up and wore green.
The children were also invited to bring a cash donation for the Irish Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.
The Michelangelo Experience
We had great fun re-creating "The Creation of Adam" in a similar way to how Michelangelo painted the ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. It's harder than it looks!
Congratulations Emma
Emma had a brilliant weekend at her dancing competition in Dublin.
She placed 3rd in her group dance, 3rd in her duet and 2nd in her group of six.

Anna won 1st place in her Taekwon-do Patterns in the Leinster Open Championships in Dublin.

World Book Day

Pancake Tuesday
We had so much fun making pancakes today!
We all made our own pancake and got to choose our own toppings!
Famine Monuments
We learned about the Famine in History.
We used the iPads to research documents and photos from the time.
We also looked a monuments around the world in memory of all the people who died at the time.
We made our own monuments using recycled materials.
Fun with Magnets
We have been learning about energy and forces!
The paper clips are not tied together.
The force of the magnet is pulling is attracting them and making them stick together.

Our Golden Rules for Safer Internet Use
1. Always be kind and show respect to friends and others.
2. Not everyone you meet on the internet is who they pretend to be.
3. Never meet someone in person you’ve only known online.
4. If you receive a message that bothers you:
STOP – don’t reply to the message but do take a screenshot
BLOCK– block the sender
TELL – a trusted adult

We were so lucky to have Santa Clause visit our school.
